Understanding RVIA Certification and Our Approach

At DLM-Distribution, we’re occasionally asked whether the Mini-T Campervan carries RVIA certification. We do not participate in the RVIA program, and that decision is intentional.

The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) is a trade organization that offers a compliance certification program for RV manufacturers who choose to participate. Many companies, particularly large-volume RV producers, elect to join the program and display the certification seal. Participation involves membership, periodic inspections, and associated fees tied to production.

Our decision not to pursue RVIA certification is not a reflection on the organization itself. Rather, it reflects how we operate as a manufacturer and how we prioritize quality control.

A Different Oversight Model

DLM-Distribution focuses on internal quality standards, controlled production processes, and careful component integration. The Mini-T Campervan is built with quality craftsmanship and designed for long-term reliability, both on and off-grid.

Instead of relying on a trade association label, we maintain direct oversight of our engineering, electrical systems, and production methods. This allows us to preserve proprietary processes while ensuring consistency from one van to the next.

Even some highly regarded luxury motorcoach manufacturers, such as Prevost and Marathon Coach, operate outside of the RVIA program. These companies produce premium, custom coaches for high-profile clients and maintain their own internal engineering standards and compliance systems. Their approach illustrates that manufacturers may choose different pathways for oversight based on their production model and business philosophy.

Participation in RVIA certification is one option within the industry — it is not the only indicator of engineering quality, craftsmanship, or long-term durability.

Insurance and Financing

A common question relates to insurance and financing. Some consumers associate RVIA certification with insurability, particularly when it comes to one-off builds or small operations with limited production history.

DLM-Distribution is a licensed manufacturer and dealer with an established track record. The Mini-T Campervan is insurable and financeable through major insurance carriers and lending institutions. Our company is recognized within insurer databases, and customers routinely obtain coverage and financing without difficulty.
